What personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
Last updated September 2026. Registered as a career college under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.
Professional Driving Instructors of Ontario Inc. (PDIO) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how we protect it, in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.
What we collect
- When you register: your name, address, phone number, email, driver’s licence number and a copy of your licence, your OSSD or equivalent (or admission test results), and your course choices.
- When you enrol: the information in your enrolment contract, including your date of birth and Social Insurance Number (used only for your T2202 tuition tax slip).
- While you study: attendance, evaluations, and your identity verification for online assessments.
- Payments: card payments are processed by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Website visits: our site uses cookies and analytics tools (Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel) to understand how visitors use the site and to measure our advertising.
Why we use it
- To process your application, admit you, and deliver your program.
- To keep the student records the Ontario Career Colleges Act requires, and to report to the Superintendent of Career Colleges when required.
- To submit your course completion to the Ministry of Transportation.
- To issue your T2202 tuition tax slip.
- To contact you about your course, including by text message for in-car scheduling.
- To send you offers and news about future courses, only if you opted in. You can opt out at any time.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with:
- The Superintendent of Career Colleges and the Ministry of Transportation, as required by law or with your consent.
- Service providers who help us run the college, such as our website host, Stripe (payments), Zoom (virtual classes), Mailgun (email) and Zapier (connecting our systems). They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
Some of these providers store information outside Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
How long we keep it
We keep student files for at least three years after you leave your program, and transcripts for as long as the Ontario Career Colleges Act requires. We securely destroy information we no longer need.
How we protect it
We limit access to staff who need it, use secure systems for storing and sending information, and require our service providers to protect it too.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to optional uses such as marketing. Contact our Campus Administrator, who is responsible for privacy at PDIO, at info@pdio.ca or 365-998-1346. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
